Chad and Q go to Hollywood!!
Thursday, Chad and I took a trip down to Lawrenceburg, IN to visit the new Hollywood Casino. The drive was very easy and took about an hour and forty minutes. We had a great time and the Casino was unbelievable. Yet, the poker room was even better. It is sponsored by the WPT, and is absolutely beautiful. It is non-smoking at the tables and they have walk up fountains for all the Coke products you can drink... which is right up my alley. We played in the $60 + $20 No-Limit Hold'em Tournament. Chad made a nice run and was the chip leader with about 12 left to play. There were 55 entries. Chad eventually busted out 7th as the "Bubble Boy". They only paid top 6. First place paid almost $1,450. The remaining 6 guys at the final table all chipped in and gave Chad back his entry fee. It was a nice gesture that was well deserved. I on the other busted out in 30th place and I played about 15 hands. I have never been so card dead in all my days, which sent me to the rail and eventually...the jackpot. I sat in the $1/$3 no limit cash table and turned $300 into $650 in about 2hrs. It was a pretty weak game and I look forward to going back. So all in all we had a great time. We plan on going back soon, but for me it will be after our new baby arrives. See ya next week.
John wins again, Back to Back!!!
John's A,Q beat Chad's A,6 heads up to take a dominating chip lead with which Chad couldn't recover. John has become the 3rd back-to-back winner of this season. Q and Chad have the others, with Chad running off 4 in a row. We had a full table and the play was solid. Kirk had his first top 3 finish of his relatively young poker career. He took down a 800k pot early on when he flopped a straight to Q's set of 6's. It was a pot that allowed him to cruise to 3rd and eventually even knock out Brody. We will be playing next Wednesday at Q's at 7pm.

John cracks Aces to win!!!
Before the blink of an eye, and 1 hand heads up, Rodney got his aces cracked when John rivered the Straight. It was an anti-climactic finish as know one had really realized what had happened. Harry who finished 3rd didn't even have his coat on, and we know how quickly he gets out the door. We only had 7 play but it was still a fun game. We will be playing next Wednesday at Brody's at 7pm. We expect to have a full table. On a side note, Harry used one of his "miss" exemptions to slide past John in the points by 5. See ya next week.

We have a tie!!! Chad's huge lead fades away...
What was once thought to be an insurmountable lead has quickly dwindled into a tie for 1st place. Chad had another impressive night with a 2nd place finish, giving him 6 out of 7 cashes. Yet, his quick exit last week opened the door for Q to come in and put a stranglehold on the top spot. With 3 cashes and 2 wins in the last 4 weeks, Q has ran down the leader and stands atop the leader board. each with 460pts. In last nights action, Q took the win with some aggressive play, and 1 timely bluff, on guess who....? Chad the bluffmaster, himself. The funny play of the night happened right when Chad walked thru the door. Everyone was joking that Chad would raise the first pot he sat in on, and without missing a beat, he did just that. B-Lib was in the Big Blind and smooth called with A,K. The flop came K, Q, 4. B-Lib bet out and Chad made his own smooth call. The turn brought B "Aces Up". He checked it to Chad who made a smallish bet into a huge pot. B called. The river brought a blank, and B-Lib led out with a 40K bet, Chad quickly called and flipped over a set of Q's. He walked into Q,Q. How about that for a chuckle??? B still held on and made a strong run finishing 3rd. Not a bad showing for his first time playing in the new format. The schedule will be posted after this post. We will basically be playing every Wednesday night of December. See ya soon.

Opie slurps down the Victory! Brody takes 2nd, Kirk outlasts Chad!
Last nights game offered several interesting story lines: 1) Chad busted out first early in the game when his pocket Jacks were crushed by Opie's pocket Aces. His abrupt demise has opened the door for others to see the light. Up until last night he had a 250pt lead on 90% of the field. 2) The Doctor was in!! Kirk had a strong showing and earned ER bragging rights for the week. He even took a huge pot off of Chad early in the game, when his "Hooks" caught Chad in the lip, trying to buy the pot with pocket nines. 3) Opie wins a big one. The deck was hot for Opie all night, he held monster after monster, and I don't believe he was ever sucked out. He was the wire to wire chip leader amassing a stack that was impenetrable. Brody had a equally impressive night quietly building a chip stack that would allow him to play heads up. The two played for about 10 minutes heads up with Opie squeaking out the win. It was a packed table, for the first time we had all 11 players in attendance. We will play next Monday night at Tom's at 7pm. It will be a big night as MNF has the Pats vs. Saints. Get your popcorn ready.....

After some major fireworks, and a blowup, Q takes week 4.
Well we only had 7 play last night but there was no shortage of drama. Chad's remarkable run of 4 in a row has come to an end, with a 2nd place finish no less. Aces were not friendly last night and were cracked twice late in the game. With 4 left to play and John holding A,A in the big blind. Chad raised to 150k in the small blind, John paused and then re-raised Chad all-in. After much deliberation, Chad called and flipped over 9,9 putting his run on the line. Q had folded an A,9, so John was an overwhelming favorite, but as Chad's luck has been running he spiked the case 9 to flop a set. John's chip stack and psyche were crushed. Chad was now had a huge stack with 3 to play. Not to be outdone, Harry doubled up twice late in the game, only to have his pocket Aces cracked by an ill timed all in shove from Q with Q,10. After Harry flipped over his Aces, Q slammed his remaining chips onto the table in disgust. Yet, low and behold, Harry happened to flop a set of Aces, which led to a rivered Str8 by Q. How quickly the game can change. Aces were sucked out 3 times on the night, all with unbelievable results. Heads up Chad and Q traded chips for about fifteen hands with Q building a small lead. The last hand found Chad limping in with A,10 to Q's pocket Jacks in the BB. Q made a small raise pre-flop, which Chad then re-raised to 500k, Q came over the top all-in leading to the games final showdown. Q's J,J held up dethroning Chad in the process. Chads run was a spectacle to say the least, and he was one more suckout away from 5 in a row. Nice job Chad. See ya next Tuesday Night at Q's 7pm.

Rumor has it.....
I have heard from several people that a certain someone is running their mouth about being unbeatable. Not naming names, but.........it starts with a "C" and ends with a "d". Could be anyone, I'm just saying. I think it also rhymes with "schmorning", just a hunch.... I would say bring your "A" game, but it has been proven the past few weeks that your "C" game and a lot of major sucking out go a long way. C-ya Tuesday. WE ARE "GUNNY"NG FOR YOU!!!!!

Next Game Tuesday @ 7pm at Brody's
Our next game will be tuesday night at Brody's. We will start at 7pm. On a side note, Just so everyone is clear with what's going on with our league. As an incentive to keep interest for the months to come, we need to calrify our "top 3". We have decided collectively that the top 2 spots will receive automatic entries into one of the events posted. From there we will have a playoff for the third spot at the end of our league. We will play it off like last time, with the higher you finish the more chips you will start with at the final table. Everyone will qualify(with a minimum of 75% participation throughout the league), and it will give players at the bottom of the pile a shot at making the trip. The top 2 can still play in that final table(will start mid stacked), but will only be able to win that nights kitty. ie)Top 2 finish 1/2 that night, 3rd place will go as our 3rd representative. See ya soon.

What a Run!!!!
Chad has been on the streak of all streaks winning 4 in a row. This week was no exception as he navigated the table for another impressive win. He once again made some good moves at the table and some questionable ones(10,8 call of Webby's all-in, only to hit a full house) nonetheless ending up on top. It has been a ramarkable run that started about 7 weeks ago. In 7 games, he has 6 cashes. A little luck and some solid play has him on top early in our league. His run will end soon, but very impressive just the same. We will be playing next Tuesday night at Brody's 7pm.

New Rules for our Home Game!!! Effective now.
After last nights game we need to address a major issue plaguing our weekly game. We have all been playing together for several years now which has led to some loose lips at the table and random chirps when not in the hand. For the sake of our game and what's at stake, we will have a few new rules regarding table talk.
1) There is to be no "Table Talk" by any player not in the hand.
2) If there are 3 or more players in a pot, there will be no table talk about the hand in progress by anyone at the table.
3) Heads up, only the players in the hand can discuss the action.
4) There will be no exposed hands, unless heads up.
5) No reaching for folded hands to show your buddy what you "would have flopped", no more comments about what you "would have flopped" period.
6) No more offering your opinion about a player's hand and what he could possibly have if your not in the hand.
These Rules will be enforced and the penalties are as follows: The penalty will be whatever the big blind is at the time of the infraction. Those chips will be taken out of play. If it so happens that someone is blatantly disregarding our rules he will be dismissed from that nights game, we all need to be accountable. We are trying to make our game as fair and competitive as possible. Lets all do our part in making it happen. We all take this a little more serious than your average home game, so its not too much to ask. See ya next week.

Chad wins again!! Exposed hand plays a big part!
Chad had another nice run finishing 1st, with John coming in 2nd. After an exposed hand allowed Chad to check, he saved a ton of chips in what surely would have been a big bet on the river. With John holding Quad 8's, Chad was aggressive throughout the hand betting and raising with Ace high on a seemingly harmless board. John held a couple of snowmen, and flopped a set. He slow played it nicely, Chad made big bets on the flop and turn, John smooth called. On the river is where it became shady. Jeff checked first to act, John checked, setting up Chad for a big check raise. Jeff showed Chad his hand while the action was still hot, Chad was getting ready to push in a big bet, but quickly threw on the breaks when he saw Jeff holding an Ace as well. It was a pivotal point which probably would have lead to Chad finishing 8th rather than 1st. It was an otherwise good game, but points out the fact we will install new game rules to follow.

New Points, Format in place!! Chad stays in 1st.
Well fittingly, Chad won last nights game, taking an early lead in our new format. We are resetting the points, and leaving the kitty as is. We will play through March and provide 2 entries into a WPT/WSOP event early next year. Our weekly game will now be a freezeout. The action took a lot more serious tone and the game was well played. Chad and Harry finished 1/2 two weeks in a row. The bluff of the night caught Tom by surprise, when he layed down K,K against Q's play on the river. Ironcially Tom suffered the "River Bluff" which happens to be the name of the street he lives on!! How about that?? We will be playing next week at Q's Pokerroom, date to follow.

Changes to come with our league format!
After next wednesday's game at Tom's we will be switching formats. We will start playing a $25 freeze out, instead of our usual $20. There will be no add-ons or rebuys allowed, $30 will be taken from the weekly pot for the end of the year kitty. Several players have expressed interest in this and it is a majority. So we will try it. The games will take a more serious tone from the start, as the chips you start with will be what you play with. Our starting stacks will be increased to $500k with our blind structure remaining intact. This will also shorten the games a bit and get everyone home at a more reasonable time. We will discuss whether or not to reset the points or just start from where we are at. See ya Wednesday.

Chad wins a wild one! Harry takes second.
What to say? Hmmmmmm.....Chad.......... dominated. Everypot he raised, he hit, every card he needed, he hit, every card he needed to fade he did. Luck and timing were definitely on his side. Harry hung around, got all-in. Go Figure....and ended up 2nd. Rod finished 3rd. It was a good game as usual, we will play next Wednesday at Tom's at 7pm. See ya there.

Jeff wins with a Suckout, and a suckout, and a suckout.....
After an unbelievable runner, runner suckout to make a flush, Jeff cruised to the victory circle with chapstick on his lips. He held J,J to Chads K,K and flushed up on the river knocking Chad out of the game with 3 left to play. Jeff got lucky more than once and even folded several winners. It was his night. Don't get me wrong he also played some solid poker....The surprise of the night was the stoically quiet Harry leaving in a fit of rage, after Brody held a bigger two pair sending him to the rail. In haste, he tossed his remaining chips in the middle. Which was a good thing for the rest of us, as we are all fully aware of how long he can stick around with a small stack. B-Lib had a nice finish holding on for 2nd place. We will be playing next week at Q's on Monday night at 7pm.

Tom wins Again, survives multiple all-ins!!!!
Tom came back from the short stack with 7 to play, winning every time he got his chips in the middle. Good or bad, pre-flop, Tom prevailed. It was an impressive comeback in a well played game. He eventually won the heads up battle, conveniently on a coin flip. He held 8,8 against Q's A,9 and had Q outchipped by a few hundred thousand. The games biggest hand involved John holding 10,10 to Q's A,K. That pot was about 3 million, crushing Johns huge chip stack, and vaulting Q into a solid finish. Chad had another solid night finishing 4th. Webby climbed out of the depths of the point standings with a 3rd place finish. We will be playing next Wednesday at Brody's @ 7pm. See you there.

*****ALERT***** Game Tuesday 7pm @ Q's
Game Tuesday night instead of Monday. Make a note of it.....Q
Chad takes week 4!! Brody has a monumental collapse.
What should have been a lock in the top 2 for the night, Brody mangaged to donk off almost 4 Million in chips in just under fifteen hands. With some suspect calls Brody amassed what appeared to be an insurmountable lead in chips knocking off player after player, only to finish 4th. That same aggressive yet risky style of play, did him in. It was a Mike the Mouth type of meltdown you just hated to watch, but was easily avoidable. There to pick up the rubble was Chad, Jeff, and John who finished in the money. Chad survived when he was all-in with Jeff holding 2 pair, the board flushed saving Chad, chopping the pot, and ultimately leading to his come from behind win. We will be playing again on Monday Oct. 5th at 7pm at Q's Pokerroom. See you then, and may the flop be with you! This has been the season of the suckout, protect your nuts, although they may get cracked......

Rodney back in front again!!
The 2009 Spring Champion is back out in front, just where he left off. After 3 solid weeks in a row, with a 2,1,2 finish Rodney takes over 1st place. Tom drops drops 1 spot to 2nd after a 7th place finish in his own garage. Chad, Jeff, Q, and B-Lib round out the top 6. With all others in close contention. In this past game, Q and Jeff held the chip leads with four to play, when Jeff made the fatal call of Q's "All-In" holding a pair Jacks to Q's nut flush. It knocked Jeff out early in what should have been another top 2 finish. Rodney sat patiently, as others were knocked out, like a fish waiting for the worm to be bobbed off the line....only to be hooked at the end by Q. Both players made a flush 3 hands into heads up play, with Q holding the winner to finish 1st. We will be playing next week at Webby's. Directions will be texted. Game Monday night at 7:00pm.

Tom jumps out to an early League Lead!!
With two solid weeks Tom has built up a hefty lead on the field. He has a 2nd and 3rd place finish, putting him ahead of Jeff and Chad who have wins in the young campaign. Our league has a newcomer in Grant who made a strong opening showing with a 4th place finish last week. With Webby returning to action this week, tonights game will surely be a good one. There have been some terrible beats and major suckouts already with yours truly taking back to back weeks in the chin. Chad had a horrible beat last week when Hot Rod came in the pot a dog with his A,J, to Chads A,K. Both players flopped a pair, with Rod turning a set of Jacks, to win a HUGE pot. But, he ended up sucking hind tit to Jeff last week, who won the game with some rag cards that happened to hit him early and often. Stay tuned, the games are heating up!!! Just in time for the fall.
